The Beach Boys' Mike Love to write his memoir

’60s pop hero to spill the beans on his band’s glory years.

Mike Love of The Beach Boys is writing his memoirs. The singer, who took the lead on the band’s hits ‘Surfin’ U.S.A.’ and ‘Little Deuce Coupe’, has agreed a deal with Blue Rider Press, an imprint of Penguin Random House, for a book titled Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy.

Due in the summer of 2016, the book will see the 73-year-old open up about his “complex” relationship with his cousin Brian Wilson, with whom he fought over songwriting credits and creative control.

“I’ve had an incredible life with a lot of triumphs, my share of heartbreak and some pretty amazing experiences,” Love said in a statement. “There are a lot of things I haven’t shared before, and I’m looking forward to opening up about my life and my work in this book.”

He’ll be assisted by biographer James S. Hirsch, who has written books about boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter and baseball great Willie Mays. [via Billboard]
