Flying Lotus, Kaytranada and Jon Hopkins join Radio 1's Residency

Hannah Wants, George FitzGerald and Solomun complete the diverse line-up.

BBC Radio 1’s Residency kicks off again on January 8 with a cast of DJs and producers bringing us their pick of goodies from all corners of the electronic milieu. This time round the show, which airs on Radio 1 in two slots on Thursday nights from 10pm to 1am, will see Brainfeeder boss Flying Lotus paired with Montreal hot property and XL signee Kaytranada.

“I still can’t believe this is about to happen,” said FlyLo of his appointment. “It’ll be a pleasure to invade the UK airwaves for the months ahead.”

Kaytranada commented: “During my high school days, I used to listen to my favourite DJs mixes on BBC and now, here I am. Damn. I’m going to play the best music for y’all.”

Immunity producer Jon Hopkins is packaged alongside house don George FitzGerald, who returns to the Residency after a stint in 2014. Skream is also back and paired with Hannah Wants, while Heidi makes another Residency appearance alongside Solomun.

The outgoing DJs are Moxie, Sohn, Jackmaster, Martin Garrix, Steve Angello and, sadly, James Blake, who’s provided us with plenty of entertainment during his Residency.

Update: Warp have confirmed that Flying Lotus’ first show for BBC Radio 1’s Residency will be on January 15, 2015.
