Donato Dozzy collaborates with singer Anna Caragnano on album made entirely from vocal samples

Italian techno free-thinker Donato Dozzy has an unusual project on the way.

Collaborating with Rome-based singer Anna Caragnano, the prolific artist has put together a nine-track record made entirely from vocal samples.

Sintetizzatrice, which is set for release on Spectrum Spools, was inspired by Dozzy’s mentor Paolo Micioni, as he told RA. “He called me one day in January 2014, reminding how he has been following me for a while now, being proud, yes, but also pointing on the evidence that something was missing in my career. It was time to deal with the voice,” he explained.

“And then he introduced me to Anna Caragnano, saying she was the right person for me. Anna is such a curious, simple and naturally talented person. The recording sessions were really inspired and we found our own way pretty quickly.”

Check out the first taste of their collaboration, ‘Starcloud’, a delicately layered piece that recalls Grouper or Luxury Problems-era Andy Stott.

Check out Dozzy’s collaboration with Nuel, reissued to much fanfare last year, and his recent work with Marco Shuttle.
