Pioneer unveils another USB-only DJ controller

At the end of 2014, Pioneer unveiled the XDJ-1000, “the first in a new line-up of digitally-focused, USB only, Rekordbox-ready players”.

The latest all-in-one controller is the XDJ-RX, unveiled at this week’s NAMM show, and it’s another unit designed to be used with the company’s music library application Rekordbox.

As MusicRadar reports, the RX combines a central two-channel mixer (which can also operate independently) with a pair of control platters based on Pioneer’s ubiquitous range of CDJs. It’s designed to work as a standalone device without the need for a laptop, so you can plug in a USB stick or even use an Android or iOS device running the free Rekordbox app.

There’s also a new Loop Slice feature, which is triggered with the two rows of pads just in front of the platter, and a built-in soundcard to let you record your set directly to USB.

Arriving in late February, the RX is priced at $1799 (around £1200) which isn’t bad considering the previously unveiled XDJ-1000s cost a whopping £820 each and don’t come with their own mixer. Watch the introductory video below to see it in action.
