Kanye West previews Rihanna collaboration at impromptu listening session

Kanye provided an impromptu 45-minute presentation for a handful of industry insiders.

Guests at the iHeartMedia Music Summit held in Burbank, California’s on Wednesday night were treated to a preview of West’s forthcoming seventh studio album as part of a 45-minute presentation from the rapper.

According to guests, Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels began his scheduled presentation by talking about upcoming records from Big Sean, Alesso and Axwell and Ingrosso before he suddenly announced: “I wanna stop this and turn it over to one of the great iconic rock stars of our time: Kanye West.”

Kanye entered the room with his laptop and picked up the microphone, before putting it down and proceeding to speak for 45 minutes without a mic. “This little talk I’m giving is going good so far,” he said at one point, “so I have to risk being Kanye.”

West covered topics including his collaboration with Paul McCartney and his “responsibility to innovate”.

The G.O.O.D. Music boss ended his presentation by playing a forthcoming collaboration with Rihanna to the silent and appreciative crowd, before slamming his laptop shut and exiting the stage to a standing ovation. [via Billboard]
