You can now own 22 of the composer’s finest works to alert you to incoming calls.

If you’ve exhausted the iPhone’s suite of ringtones, then Philip Glass has the answer. No longer do we have to suffer the infernal melodies of ‘Marimba’, ‘Crickets’, or everyone’s least favourite alert, ‘Bell Tower’ – Glass’s label Orange Mountain Music has released official ringtone versions of 22 of his classic compositions, available to users of the iPhone and iPad.

The 22 tones include ‘Koyaanisqatsi’ from cult film Koyaanisqatsi, ‘Knee Play No.5’ from the Glass opera Einstein on the Beach and ‘Houston Skyline’ from his score to Errol Morris’ 1988 documentary The Thin Blue Line. If you fancy something a little more chilling, then there’s also ‘Music Box’ from his score to 1992 horror film Candyman, featured in FACT’s list of the 100 greatest horror soundtracks.

To download them for the bargain price of 99p each, simple enter the iTunes store via your device, search “Philip Glass” and navigate to “Ringtones” with the “More” tab. If you’re on an Android device, Orange Mountain Music promises you’ll be catered for soon. [via The Wire]
