A Record Store Day release we can get behind.
Last year, Hyperdub and leading Chicago footwork crew Teklife came together for Next Life, a 20-track charity compilation dedicated to the memory of the late-great DJ Rashad.
Originally released as a CD, Next Life will be reissued on triple silver vinyl for Record Store Day, with proceeds again going to Rashad’s son. Hyperdub boss Kode9 previewed the collection on Instagram.
Next Life included previously-unreleased material from DJ Rashad; footwork heavyweights DJ Spinn, RP Boo, Traxman, Manny and Gantman; newer names like DJ Earl, Taye and Boylan; and Chicago outsiders like Durban, Tripletrain, DJ Paypal and more.
