They include the first vinyl reissues of two library music albums from the 1970s.

Better known as Black Devil Disco Club, Bernard Fèvre’s 1978 LP Disco Club was reissued by Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label in 2004. Originally released under the Black Devil psudonym, it was billed as a lost classic of Italo disco, though its modern sound led many to speculate it was a Richard D. James hoax.

Fèvre however is very much a real artist, and has released six albums in the past 10 years. Though Disco Club has already been revisited once, it’s being reissued again, jointly by Lo Recordings and Sound Obsession in the UK, by Alter-K in France and by Anthology Recordings in the US. While Rephlex’s version only contained four tracks aimed at DJ use, the new reissue will feature all six tracks in their intended sequence.

This will be joined by two albums recorded by Fèvre in the ’70s during his career as a library music composer. The 1975 album Suspense is described in a press release as as “a library LP of cinematic, proto-electro vignettes tied together with tense, dramatic melodies”, which supposedly soundtracks a movie that was never made. 1977’s Cosmos 2043 is another concept-driven album in which Fèvre imagines “a far future populated by space-age electronics and lush, vivid melody.”

Each of the three LPs are available on May 12, remastered from the original tapes by Fèvre himself. In the meantime, you can listen to the Black Devil track ‘H Friend’ below.
