The July festival also features Arca, an FKA Twigs residency and a ballet composed by Jamie xx.

Back in January Björk announced the first dates in support of her Vulnicura album, a run of gigs taking place throughout March and April in New York. Now she’s announced the first concert outside the US in support of the album, playing a specially curated, one-off performance on July 5 as part of this year’s Manchester International Festival.

The biennial festival, which runs from July 2-19, also features a performance from Björk collaborator Arca and a residency with FKA Twigs, where visitors will be able to watch the artist make seven short films over seven days at the Old Granada Studios.

As well as the previously announced Wonderland, a Damon Albarn musical aimed at families, there will also be a full-length ballet composed by Jamie xx called Tree of Codes and an adaptation of a Caryl Churchill play called The Skriker, starring Maxine Peake and scored by scored by Nico Muhly and Antony Hegarty. Details on the full line-up and tickets can be found at the Manchester International Festival website.
