Good news in the wake of Leonard Nimoy’s passing.

Star Trek is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016, and fans of the iconic sci-fi franchise will have more to look forward to than just the third film in the rebooted series.

Starting in January 2016, Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage will feature a live symphony orchestra performing music from the franchise (including TV, film and more) in front of a screening of the franchise’s “more iconic moments.”

Justin Freer, co-founder of co-organizers CineConcerts, said that Star Trek “has for many years been an important and meaningful part of our culture in so many ways,” and that that the “exciting concert experience featuring the greatest music and visuals spanning five decades will be an extraordinary and memorable event.”

Freer will serve as conductor for the 100-plus North American tour, having served the same role in performances of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and with the San Francisco Symphony, Chicago Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra.

After a pre-tour engagement at London’s Royal Albert Hall in November, the tour will kick off in Florida before making its way through the U.S. and Canada. For information about dates as they are released, sign up here. [via THR]
