The long-awaited 808 film is finally set to debut this week.

Arthur Baker — the producer behind Afrika Bambaataa’s ‘Planet Rock’ — first teased a documentary about Roland’s iconic TR-808 drum machine back in 2012. Almost three years later, the film is finally set to debut at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.

The documentary features a host of artists who have relied on the 808, in one way or the other: hip-hop pioneers Bambaataa, Rick Rubin, and Hank Shocklee; dance progenitors Goldie, A Guy Called Gerald, and Todd Terry; indie kings Damon Albarn and Talking Heads’ Chris Frantz, pop hit-makers Diplo, Pharrell Williams, Lil Jon and David Guetta; and plenty more.
