Quite the opposite of Comic Relief.

Tom Ravenscroft’s show on 6 Music is always worth checking out, being one of the most truly eclectic offerings from the station (no doubt a trait he inherited from his dad, John Peel).

Every week Ravenscroft invites an artist to provide a guest mix for the show, and on Friday it was the turn of Swans frontman and experimental rock heavyweight Michael Gira. With picks from the likes of Vic Chestnutt, Howlin’ Wolf and Nico, you can listen back via BBC iPlayer (from 2h 33m).

Swans last shook the wool out of our ears with 2014’s monstrously proportioned To Be Kind, which they followed up at the end of 2014 with the Oxygen EP. Read FACT’s interview with Gira to find out his unique opinions on Klimt, Kuti and tantric sex.
