Vulnicura goes 360 in new video.

Ahead of the physical release of her latest album, Björk has debuted a video for album track ‘Stonemilker’ that utilises new virtual reality technology. In order to experience the 360-degree, immersive video you’ll need to head to MoMA PS1 in New York City or one of the two Rough Trade shops in London and New York in the coming months.

Shot with a 360 camera, ‘Stonemilker’ requires an Oculus Rift headset to get the full immersion. It was shot on Grótta’s beach, on the northwestern tip of Reykjavik.

In a statement about the video Björk explained that “we discussed [the 36o camera’s] potential for intimacy and Andrew then suggested we take it to the beach where the song was written. It immediately rang true for me as that location has a beautiful 360 panoramic view which matches the cyclical fugue like movement in the song. If the song has a shape it is sort of like a circle that just goes on forever.”

At MoMA PS1 the video will be included as part of the ongoing exhibition about the artist. FACT’s Claire Lobenfeld attended the opening, calling it “an exhibition about processing” that works best if you give yourself to it.

On Monday we premiered the video for ‘Family’, also taken from Vulnicura.
