“I’m very happy to say that the time has come to tell my story.”

A few years ago we reported Johnny Marr announced his plans to write an autobiography. “I’ll do it in the next couple of years,” Marr said then, so roughly right on time the former Smiths guitarist is putting the finishing touches on his upcoming book.

The book will come fall 2016 through Century Publishing, Exclaim reports. “It’s the book Smiths fans have been waiting their whole lives for, and the early material that Johnny has written is utterly breathtaking. I’m delighted that Johnny has chosen Century to be his publisher, said Century director Ben Dunn.

While the book will cover the Smiths it will also focus on the many bands Marr joined following their breakup including The The, Modest Mouse, and the Pretenders.

“For the past few years, as I’ve been out on tour promoting my solo work, fans and journalists have been asking me when I’ll write my book. I’m very happy to say that the time has come to tell my story,” said Marr.
