The beloved sci-fi show makes a return to TV.

Occasionally, non-music news makes headlines here at FACT, and after posting about return of Twin Peaks, it only seems right to post about the revival of another ’90s TV favorite.

The X-Files will return for a six-episode “event series,” reports Vulture. While there is no air date, the show will go into production this summer, with creator Chris Carter and stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny returning.

The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning,” said Fox co-chief executives Dana Walden and Gary Newman in a statement.

“Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

As with any cultural phenomenon, The X-Files has inspired its share of music. Earlier this month, we interviewed Palmbomen, whose summer long X-Files binge inspired the most psychedelic house record of the year so far. Plus, nods to the program show up in both The Essential… Spiritualized and The Essential… Source Direct.
