We’re Gonna Be Lords is the latest film from Watch The Throne director Robert Lopuski.

Lopuski’s short documentary points the spotlight on rappers currently emerging from New York City, including Action Bronson, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers and Le1f.

“There’s this almost transcendent quality of being nobody in pursuit of something great—the idea of becoming a Lord,” said Lopuski of his film. “It felt fragile but charged, raw, dream like, ritualistic.”

Interviews with the aforementioned MCs are punctuated by scripted, occult-like scenes. The film’s intro pays tribute to the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

According to Lopuski, the crew “basically shot a series of vignettes, almost like narrative fragments, with the intention that they could somehow create a level of alchemy between true docu material and these other ‘moments.'”
