Get the sound of the iconic handheld in 24-bit WAV format.
The Nintendo Game Boy’s sound engine might lack bass, but what it lacks in sonic power it more than makes up for in 8-bit crunch. It’s for this reason so many musicians have made use of the handheld console for production and live performances over the years, but it’s not always easy to do so unless you’re willing to hack one.
If you don’t want to destroy your handheld getting that classic sound, this sample pack of Game Boy drum sounds courtesy of Bedroom Producers Blog should be a fine alternative. It contains 64 samples in 24-bit WAV format, as well as patches for Native Instruments’ Kontakt and SFZ patches for Sonar instruments. You can download the kit and read the story behind the samples at BPB, and preview the sounds in the video below. [via RA]
