It’s April 14, and it really should be official by now – today is Aphex Twin Day.

Aphex nerds Sam Bungey and Larry Ryan agree. After years of pranking each other with links to ‘Avril 14th’ (the IDM equivalent of rickrolling, obviously) they realised it was time to think bigger. “We should turn April 14th into some new secular feast day,” they suggested. “It could be turned into a hymn. We’ll get a Welsh male choir to hum the bitch. We’ll be all over regional BBC.”

They’ve been doing some deep thinking about all the reasons ‘Avril 14’ is a work of staggering genius, and they’ve kicked off a petition to make their dream a reality.

Inexplicably, given that over 4,000 people joined a Kickstarter to hear Caustic Window, it’s not got many signatures yet – but we can change that. Sign your name and then get ‘Avril 14’ on – and don’t forget its predecessor, ‘Avril 1’.
