Untold has detailed a new Hemlock sublabel dedicated to off-piste projects.

The producer born Jack Dunning unofficially launched his ORO offshoot with last year’s Echo In The Valley album/mixtape, which was physically released on 100 wooden USB keys. The sublabel will now focus on “experimental and spoken word” albums and EPs, “often handmade in small batches”, explains Dunning, with forthcoming releases from performance artist Brian Routh, Portugese producer IVVVO and DJ Nausea.

The first release comes from Simon Lord (of Simian, The Black Ghosts, Arclight) in his Lord Skywave guise. Woven was “realised simply using analogue synthesiser and voice” and is described by the label as “fluid, measured… at peace.” It’s out on a USB key (containing 24-bit WAV and 320kbps MP3) in a nice jar, as you can see below, in a run of just 75 which will appear in selected shops from April 20.

Last year Dunning also launched Hemlock Black as a home for “futuristic physical club music”.
