For the second time in two years, a massive stash of cocaine has been found in the supermarket aisles of Berlin.

The coke made its way from Colombia to Germany hidden in boxes of bananas destined for 14 branches of Aldi. Staff at the Berlin supermarkets discovered the 386kg shipment – worth around €15 million – last week.

Police say it’s the “biggest single” coke find in the history of the German capital. “Apparently there was a logistical mistake somewhere along the line,” said a spokesman for the Berlin force.

It’s not the first banana-based slip-up by drug traffickers – in January 2014, another 140kg of coke was found in banana crates headed for Berlin supermarkets. [via Mixmag/Sydney Morning Herald]
