Hot Chocolate lead singer Errol Brown has died.

His manager Phil Dale said Brown, who died at his home in the Bahamas, had had liver cancer.

Brown was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but moved to the UK when he was a child. He formed Hot Chocolate in London at the end of the 1960s and racked up a string of hits between 1970 and 1984, often working with producer Mickie Most, including the evergreen disco smash ‘You Sexy Thing’, ‘It Started With A Kiss’ and ‘Everyone’s A Winner’.

He was made an MBE in 2003 and received an Ivor Novello award for his outstanding contribution to British music in 2004. [via BBC News]
