Stretch and Bobbito’s old tapes are coming back.

Launched in 1990, the pair’s slot on WKCR was one of hip-hop’s most important ever radio shows, hosting freestyles from the cream of rap’s crop – often before they’d even had a deal. There are archive recordings on YouTube, but they’re usually poor quality (there’s also this archive blog, though god knows how many of those Rapidfire links still work).

As pointed out by WatchLoud, Stretch and Bobbito’s website currently hosts the following message:

“Stretch and Bobbito archive shows available on cassette tapes coming soon! In production now. Distributed by Fat Beats.”

Proceeds from the tape’s sales will fund Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives, a documentary on the show due for release later this year.
