Listen to the Kinshasa seven-piece make a splashy debut.

Mbongwana Star appeared on our radar in March with their addictive debut single ‘Malukayi’, combining the clatter of Congolese rhythms with a taste for post-punk, dub and clubby electronics, and featured members of Konono Nº1. (It came with a great video, too.)

The band will release their debut album, From Kinshasa, on May 18 through World Circuit, and ahead of that it’s streaming in full via the Guardian.
