The High School Musical star graduates to the EDM big league.

Zac Efron plays an aspiring DJ in the Max Joseph-directed We Are Your Friends, the forthcoming movie about the ker-azy world of EDM.

His character Cole “spends his time toiling over that one […] killer cut that will propel him into the EDM stratosphere,” according to Deadline, when an older DJ, played by Wes Bentley, “takes the talented kid under his wing and shows him the way to a future in spinning.” Meanwhile, Cole is falling for his mentor’s girlfriend, played by Emily Ratajkowski.

It’s out on in the US on August 28.
