The people at YAM Records, one of a handful of new record shops that opened in Peckham last year, are moving into broadcasting.

YAM Radio is a partnership between the Rye Lane record shop and local label First Word Records to highlight some of great music being made in the area, also home to shops like Rye Wax and Do!! You!!! and labels like Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section International and One Handed Music. As well as music shows, they plan to offer speech-based programmes telling stories from the wider community in South East London.

The venture kicks off next weekend (May 29-31) with a live broadcast at Bold Tendencies, the art space inside the multi-storey car park also home to Frank’s Cafe. Running from 12pm until 11pm each day, you can tune in at YAM Radio.

After that tester weekend, they’re planning to launch YAM Radio at a permanent location in 2016.
