Mayor of Philly covers a Sugarhill Gang classic.

Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter took the stage at the city’s 4th of July Jam last night, delivering an impressive rendition of The Sugarhill Gang’s classic ‘Rapper’s Delight’, backed by none other than The Roots.

Mayor Nutter performed the iconic 1979 single with relative ease, before confidently dropping the mic and taking a bow. The Philly mayor has previously said that he was once a DJ, and it was through DJing that he was introduced to politics. Watch the video below.
