This Saturday (July 11) sees the inaugural Dalston Music Festival take place in east London.
Taking place in and around Dalston’s Gillett Square, the one-day event features both a free outdoor stage and music across eight ticketed venues including Dalston Pond, Servant Jazz Quarters, Stamford Works, Vortex Jazz Club, The Alibi, Birthdays, Dalston Jazz Bar and Morna Lounge.
The festival features a whopping 40 acts, with highlights including noise veteran Russell Haswell, Diagonal’s Blood Music and Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier.
Phonica Records will also be hosting one of the best dance line-ups of the day – their stage at Dalston Pond is headlined by Daphni, the dance alias of Caribou’s Dan Snaith. He’ll be joined by Phonica residents Simon Rigg, Kenny White and Alex Egan, and a “very special guest” whose identity is being kept under wraps for now.
