Mica Levi and friends return with a new album.

After going solo to compose the score for Under the Skin, Mica Levi has reconvened Micachu & The Shapes for their follow-up to 2012’s Never, Good Sad Happy Bad.

“For me it’s the most free we have been,” Levi says in a press release. The album was built from the trio’s “collaborative improvisation,” with Levi choosing what to develop into songs and writing lyrics for the entire record in one “non-stop… avalanche.”

“Jams are really quite a healthy release, it’s a way of getting stuff out without consciously thinking about it or making decisions,” says keyboardist Raisa Khan of the album’s genesis.

Good Sad Happy Bad is due out on September 11 via Rough Trade. Listen to lead cut ‘Oh Baby’ below; the cover art, tracklist and the band’s tour dates follow.
