The service launches this week.

In an attempt to draw in more radio listeners, the BBC have announced that Radio 1 and 1Xtra shows will be available to download and listen offline for the first time ever.

Previously the BBC only had podcasts available for offline listening, but shows will be available through the BBC iPlayer Radio app and can be downloaded and played offline for a period of 30 days.

“We’re thrilled to bring offline listening to our audiences. We know this is something they’ve been asking for and we have been working hard to make it possible,” said Andrew Scott of BBC Digital. Learn more on BBC’s site.
