FACT x MoMA PS1 Warm Up 2015 Mix 3 – LAFAWNDAH

It’s that time of year again.

Every summer for the last 18 (!) years, MoMA PS1 has invited audiences to check out Warm Up, an outdoor music series presenting the best in underground, experimental music each Saturday, and 2015’s selection is looking unmissable. FACT have teamed up with the Warm Up crew to present a special series of mixes – one each week to coincide with the shows – so even if you’re nowhere near New York City, you can still enjoy this year’s lineup from afar.

We’re onto mix three, and this one comes from LAFAWNDAH, the Paris-raised singer with Egyptian, Iranian and English heritage who Chris Kelly described in last year’s FACT interview as “a 21st century globalization story”. Moving on from the disarming “techno-zouk” of her debut, LAFAWNDAH moves into similarly uncharted territory with this short, sharp but decisive mix, blending off-kilter electronics and club rumblings with Japanese experiments and film snippets. It’s a cavernous exploration of music without borders, and is the perfect amuse-bouche for her live performance on Saturday.

Warm Up is every Saturday until September 5 at MoMA PS1, and if you need more information (including the excellent lineup) make sure you check the website immediately.
