The pop diva might be joining Fox’s hip-hop soap opera.

At her Walk of Fame ceremony on Wednesday, director-producer Lee Daniels said that Mariah Carey will be joining Empire, the pop culture phenomenon that he co-created for Fox: “Watch her on Empire you guys! She’s coming on Empire!”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, however, there is currently “no deal in place” for Carey to appear, and Fox has declined to comment. Previously, Carey and Daniels collaborated on 2008’s Tennessee, 2009’s Precious, and 2013’s Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
