Welcome to FACT’s weekly video round-up.

As we note at the end of every year, music videos have never been better. But too often, music videos — along with documentaries, live sets and interview clips — get lost in the shuffle of news and new music.

With that in mind, FACT is doing what it does for mixes, mixtapes, vinyl and more: rounding up the internet’s best videos on a weekly basis. And to remove our bias, we won’t be including our own content — you’ll have to stay tuned to FACT TV for all your Against The Clock, FACT Freestyles and Confessions needs.

Autre Ne Veut
‘World War Pt. 2’
Dir: Allie Avital

The unnerving ‘World War Pt. 2’ video seems to be a metaphor for codependent, dysfunctional romance, turning the pain and damage caused by symbiotic and/or parasitic relationships into alien body horror. Dancer Macy Sullivan contorts, scratches and latches on Arthur Ashin as he melodramatically goes about his day. Video and song are in perfect sync: her bites mimic distorted SFX, and it closes on a striking, two-become-one image just as the song’s wheels come to a stop. One of the best videos of the year, no doubt.

Earl Sweatshirt
‘Off Top’
Dir: Taylor Johnson

Earl gets in the animation game with a short-but-sinister video that mashes up cartoon nostalgia with creepy found-footage. He’s certainly grown as a rapper in the last few years, but that violent, transgressive streak isn’t going anywhere. Cheers to the Youtube commenter who described the video as “When Schoolhouse Rock starts getting real…”

tUnE-yArDs
‘Rocking Chair’
Dir: Sarah Pupo

‘Rocking Chair’ turns painted animation cells into the cells of an imagined body — transparent images spin, overlap and trace their way within and without the body like twisted kaleidoscopes.

Leftfield & Sleaford Mods
‘Head And Shoulders’
Dir: Ewan Morris and Casey Raymond

A crazed, derelict Pac Man eats his way through a 2D city leaving poop emojis and carnage in its wake in this twisted bit of animation, which goes from traditional to stop-motion to computer-generated at each bizarre turn.

Celestial Trax
‘KDH’
Dir: Nicole Van Straatum

A double-jointed dancer contorts herself into grotesque configurations that are exaggerated by video effects: a visual facsimile for what Celestial Trax’s club constructions do to the body.

ABRA
‘U KNO’
Dir: Ramez Silyan & Christine Lai

One of Awful’s rising stars returns with a video for another ROSE highlight. The self-described darkwave duchess dons anime-eye contact lenses and gets close to her co-star. Thanks to retro video effects, disembodied hands and dirty bathwater, the video threatens to turn into a sex show or a snuff film at any moment.

Kanye West
‘All Day’ (DJ Spinn Remix)
Dir: Leondotcom, The Era Media

Chicago crew The Era bring DJ Spinn’s Kanye remix to life, footworking from dawn to dusk and stopping by Spinn’s studio as a reminder of footwork-footworker symbiosis.

The Holy Kit
‘Hurt Ma Wriss’
Dir: Born Ready Films & The Holy Kit

Kit adds yet another clip to his growing videography, teaming with a trio of Spring Breakers to rob a drug house, bats swinging. Pristine footage and neon visual FX take standard issue rap tropes to the next level.

David Gilmour
‘Rattle That Lock’
Dir: Alasdair and Jock

David Gilmour is a bit off our radars these days, but the Pink Floyd co-founder knows a thing or two about animation. This epic greyscale video, which was inspired by Paradise Lost, follows the fall of Satan and his reign of destruction.

Puff Daddy feat. Pharrell
‘Finna Get Loose’
Dir: Hype Williams

Puffy reunites with (the original) Hype Williams, tearing down a club with Pharrell in black-and-white that is made starker by the blasts of paint-dripped color. Fast cuts and even faster camera movements result in Hype’s most seizure-inducing video since ‘All of the Lights’.
