Update, August 21: Ice Cube is denying reports that he and his son are attached to April 29, 1992.

As Variety reports, his camp said in a statement: “Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr. have no plans to commit to this project at this time. Any speculations or rumors that suggest that they are confirmed are simply untrue.”

Maybe the father-son duo will pop up in the rumoured Straight Outta Compton sequel instead.

The movie features the involvement of Straight Outta Compton producer Will Packer.

Ice Cube and his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. are reportedly in talks to star in a movie about the 1992 LA riots, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is being produced by Will Packer, responsible for the recent N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. The biopic featured Jackson Jr. in the role of his father, topping the US box office over the weekend.

Titled April 29, 1992 after the date the riots started, Ice Cube would reportedly take the role of an ex-criminal who tries to protect his son – played by Jackson Jr – when a gang tries to raid his workplace.

While The Hollywood Reporter says that talks are underway, Ice Cube’s publicist has issued a statement that denies anything official has been signed yet.

“Ice Cube and O’Shea Jackson Jr. have no plans to commit to this project at this time. Any speculations or rumors that suggest that they are confirmed are simply untrue.” [via NME]
