Tinder for clubbers.

If your Tinder dates are letting you down because of their sorry music taste, then help is at hand in the form of a new dating app called Mix’d.

Recently launched in the US, the app is the latest in a long line of specialist dating apps that take Tinder’s ubiquitous “swipe right” mechanic and apply it to a more niche audience.

In the case of Mix’d, you select your favourite DJs and artists to help connect with other like-minded music fans. Like Spotify, it connects to Facebook, allowing the app to scan your upcoming events for potential matches too. The app also uses the API of Spotify-owned “music intelligence company” Echo Nest to enhance its accuracy.

Mix'd is a dating app for dance music fans

Speaking to Thump, app creator Noah Brunell said that he’s planning on taking it to EDM festivals Electric Zoo and TomorrowWorld to recruit more users, but notes that it’s not just aimed at dance music fans. As he explains, he hopes to include music news, ticketing, merchandise, travel, and artist pages to the service, to make it “a one-stop shop for everything.”

Mix’d isn’t the first attempt to create a dating experience for music fans – we’ve already had TechnoDating and EDM-Date, but this is the first one designed for your phone.

The app is currently only available in the US, but you can find it at the App Store.
