The film will begin shooting in 2016.

Wu-Tang Clan mastermind RZA has been recruited to direct an upcoming action thriller titled Breakout. The film will be RZA’s third as a director and is set to begin production early next year.

Breakout tells the story of a young photographer falsely arrested in Bangladesh for drug trafficking. His wealthy father calls upon two old friends to break him out of prison.

The script was written by Richard D’Ovidio and will be produced by Amasia Entertainment, whose Mr. Right—which co-stars RZA—premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.

“The multi-talented RZA has mastered the art of music, acting and filmmaking,” Amasia’s Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo said. “We are ecstatic to have him behind the camera on our next project as he brings a fresh and innovative take to this international action thriller from Rich D’Ovidio.

The legendary rapper and producer made his directorial debut with 2012’s The Man With the Iron Fists. His second film, Coco, stars Common, Jill Scott and Azealia Banks and will be released next year. [via Variety]
