Roland teases “boutique” synth line inspired by its 80s legacy

The Roland Boutique line draws inspiration from the Jupiter-8, JX-3P and Juno-106.

Roland has teased its next move in the world of music hardware, a “boutique” line of synths that appear to draw from the company’s classic 80s models.

There’s not much to go on except a short video, but it highlights the Jupiter-8, JX-3P and Juno-106 before stopping on three boxes under the banner “Roland Boutique”. Create Digital Music however has enhanced the image to reveal what looks like three synths with mini keyboards, very much in the vein of Yamaha’s new Reface line.

It’s unclear exactly what make the products “boutique”, but they look very different from Roland’s green-hued AIRA line, which is notable for its full-sized instruments.
