The young talent showcases his hypnotic and complex style.

Principe Discos has been busily pushing Lisbon’s frenetic ghetto sound beyond the borders of Portugal for the past couple of years, bringing the likes of Nidia Minaj and DJ Nigga Fox to the attention of the wider world and shining a light on the city’s unique take on Angolan kuduro.

Next up on the label is the first solo release from DJ Firmeza, a 20-year-old star-in-the-making (with a fantastic press shot) previously heard on Principe’s 2013 compilation EP from the B.N.M. and P.D.D.G. crews.

The Alma Do Meu Pa EP is dedicated to Firmeza’s recently departed father, the label explains, and kicks off with the six-minute title track, a “hypnotic percussion grid showcasing all the rhythmic flow” he learned from classic DJ Nervoso beats. Check it out below and grab the 12″ and digital download from Principe on October 16.
