Hyperdub returns to South Africa.

South African-born, London-based producer Okzharp (formerly of LV) is set to make his solo debut on Hyperdub later this month with a four-track EP born of a collaboration with fellow South African director Chris Saunders.

Titled Dumela 113, or Hello 113, the EP features the vocal talents of Manthe Ribane, who runs Studio113 in Johannesburg. The release is Ribane’s first foray into music, with her work to date focusing on dance (she toured with Die Antwoord and was a member of the VINTAGE crew) and visual arts.

Okzharp and Ribane were introduced by Saunders via another South African MC, Okmalumkoolkat, who worked with LV on the Sebenza album, also for Hyperdub. Manthe performed in a movie that Saunders and Zharp made together called Ghost Diamond, with the music for Dumela 113 written over the course of the film’s shoot and recorded in one night in Johannesburg. Two of the tracks soundtrack the film.

Inspired by South Africa’s vibrant house music scene, the EP is out October 30 on vinyl and digital formats.

Watch the video for ‘Dear Ribane’ below, featuring Ribane singing in the Tshwana language about being a performer and “a vessel for other people’s ideas of beauty.”
