After compiling some classics on this year’s Manbait, Karl O’Connor returns to the Berlin-based label.

While we scratch our heads over the “holy grail of 90s UK techno” set to appear on Blackest Ever Black next year, the label has announced its first release of 2016: a slice of cassette memorabilia from “the ultimate gang show”.

The Boys Are Here is a 90-minute recording of Regis’ set “live in the music hall” on October 31, the night of his show at Dude Club in Milan alongside Surgeon and Truss. “Half an hour of requests, cover versions and encores expunged for reputation’s sake,” says the label, hinting that the theme to 70s sitcom It Ain’t Half Hot Mum might have been played on the night (as JunoPlus recalls, O’Connor has previous form for playing vintage TV tunes in the club).

The Boys Are Here is out in January. Label boss Kiran Sande spoke entertainingly and at length about the “romantic with a capital ‘R'” vision of his label in an interview with FACT’s Louis Pattison this week.
