David Bowie has unveiled the stark artwork for his 26th album, Blackstar.

Check out the album cover (which comes in two versions – white for CD, black for vinyl) below, along with a bundle of typically brilliant new photographs of the rock icon and a short trailer for the album.

Not much is known about Blackstar so far, but it’s believed that the seven-song LP was recorded at New York’s Magic Shop studio with local jazz musicians.

The 10-minute title track, due to appear tomorrow, is also the theme music for Sky Atlantic’s new heist drama The Last Panthers. Blackstar is set to be released on January 8.
