He’s also voicing one of the characters.

Justin Timberlake is to write and perform new music for a forthcoming film based on the Trolls toy franchise, as well as voice one of the characters.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake has signed on as the executive producer of Trolls and will voice the character of Branch, “a hilariously hardcore survivalist who hides his surprising true colors.”

“I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event [and] couldn’t be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks’ Trolls,” Timberlake said. “This film is very special, the music is going to be very special and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it all.”

Set for release on November 4, the movie will be directed by Shrek Forever After duo Mike Mitchell and Walt Dorhn and also features the voice of Anna Kendrick. The soundtrack will feature Timberlake’s first original music since 2013’s The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2.

In case you’ve managed to repress all memory of the Trolls or are too young to remember their existence, they were a line of ugly plastic dolls with long hair that were a passing fad in the early 90s – much like we hope Minions turn out to be.
