Montreal-Bristol connection.

Canadian bass explorer Poirier (fka Ghislain Poirier) is set to release Migration, his eighth album under the name, in 2016. Ahead of the album comes ‘Jump’, the first single featuring legendary NYC vocalist Red Fox.

‘Jump’ is a slice of classic dancehall, harking back to the genre’s 1990s heyday but with what Poirier calls “a modern feel.” London’s Nice Up! Records are releasing it as a 7″ on January 29, with two remixes (available digitally) by Bristol’s Sam Binga and Tel Aviv’s Jahrkon.

Sam Binga has been a firm FACT favourite over the past few years, and on his remix he delivers a souped-up version of the original that crunches the dancehall vibe further. Stream it exclusively below.

“To have Sam on board for the remix is great, I loved his album,” says Poirier. “I remember hanging out at Womad Festival in 2010 and so to have our musical paths cross again in 2016 is really nice.”

Last week, Poirier guested on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide radio show with a mini mix that further teases the vibes of his new album.
