Rome’s 90s techno scene gets highlighted by the new label.
Italian techno from veteran producer Leo Anibaldi will be the focus of the first release from a new label, Future Primitive.
Together with Numbers favourite Lory D, Anibaldi played a key role in Rome’s electronic scene in the late 80s and early 90s, bringing the harder sounds of US and European techno to the city’s clubs.
94-96 features two tracks from Anibaldi’s mid-90s peak: a ‘Stretched Edit’ of 1994 track ‘Fusion 1’, and a remastered version of ‘Evocation Part II’, a track originally released on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label in 1996.
Future Primitive is being operated by online record store Juno’s techno buyer Milo Bragg, which means it should be worth keeping tabs on. According to Juno Plus, future releases will see both new and old material issued – expect the kind of music you’d find on his killer mixes for NTS, The Trilogy Tapes and Berceuse Heroique.
94-96 will be released on vinyl in late March – until then you can stream previews of the label’s debut 12″ below.
