Sample spotters rejoice.

Over the past few years, long time J Dilla collaborator HouseShoes has been paying homage to the late producer’s creativity with a mix series called The King James Version, which collates samples Dilla used in his productions.

A day after the 10th anniversary of Dilla’s passing on February 10, HouseShoes uploaded the third, and final, volume of the series to SoundCloud. As EgoTrip’s Chairman Mao put it on the release of the first mix, “this is a lovingly and expertly constructed journey through the building blocks of Dilla’s beats.”

Stream The King James Version Volume III below, as well as volumes I and II if you missed them first time around.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Dilla’s long-lost vocal album, The Diary, would finally see a release in April. The news came with an official stream of album cut ‘The Introduction’, a HouseShoes production.

Last autumn, we profiled HouseShoes’ move away from his home of Detroit to Los Angeles and the birth of his new label, Street Corner Music. Read about how the Detroit hip-hop pioneer moved forward.
