Last November, Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know, aka Gary Miller, was admitted to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.

At the time, doctors gave Miller only a 5% chance of pulling through, but after three months of life support and hospitalization, he’s expected to make a full recovery.

That’s the good news, but hospital bills aren’t cheap and the band’s manager Vaughan Lewis has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Miller and his family in this time of need. Lewis explains that Miller did not have medical insurance, and clearly has been unable to work since November, so asks fans to dig deep and help if they can. You can donate to the campaign here.

The band released a statement yesterday on their Facebook page, which you can read below. [via Pitchfork]

“As many of you know, Gary Miller (aka Dr. Know or Doc), guitarist of the Legendary Washington DC punk band Bad Brains, suffered cardiac arrest in early November last year. His condition quickly progressed to multiple organ failure, and he was on life support for almost 2 weeks. At the time, his doctors gave him a 5% chance of survival. But by the power of PMA, LOVE and FAMILY, he was able to pull through and survive.
We started this campaign in an effort to raise money for Doc’s medical expenses and additional care that will be needed once he returns home.”
