It’s hard to believe that Mr. Mitch’s influential debut album Parallel Memories came out in 2014.

The album helped define a wave of slow, melancholy instrumental grime popularized by the Boxed club night he co-runs, but it’s been ages since he’s dropped new material. It’s not that he hasn’t been busy – his Gobstopper label has been cranking out gems, with 12″s from Bloom and most recently Loom, who is responsible for this week’s FACT mix.

It’s finally time for the producer to tease new material of his own though, and ‘Friend Of Mine’ doesn’t disappoint, playing with the emotional core of Parallel Memories and giving it some extra grit for good measure.
