Godrich is mixing the new RHCP record.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith has confirmed that the band are working with long-time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich.

Tweeting a picture of himself in the studio with Godrich, Smith wrote: “Started Mixing the new record today!@nigelgod at the helm.” No more information has been shared as yet. See the tweet below.

It was previously reported that the Chili Peppers had joined forces with Danger Mouse for their new record, which is the follow-up to 2011’s I’m With You.

The news has caused speculation among Radiohead fans about the state of the Oxford group’s incoming ninth album. Godrich – a member of Atoms For Peace alongside Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and Chilli Peppers’ Flea – was thought to be still working on the album, after collaborator Stanley Donwood confirmed yesterday the record is still unfinished.
