The service has benefited from Apple Music exclusives.

Apple Music now boasts more than 13 million subscribers, according to a company earnings report published yesterday (April 26).

Having hit the 10 million mark in January, this means that the streaming service has gained 3 million new users in under three months. However, despite the increase in new Apple Music users, sales of Apple products have still fallen for the first time in 13 years.

The number of subscribers could feasibly rise when Drake’s eagerly-awaited album Views From The 6 drops on Friday as an Apple Music exclusive.

“It’s good news that Apple is making streaming work but it is also going to accelerate the decline of downloads,” music industry analyst Mark Mulligan told the FT back in January. He believes Apple Music has “the potential to be the leading music subscription service sometime in 2017” based on its current rate of growth.

Last month, Apple Music inked a deal that could totally transform online mix culture. Read about what it could mean for DJs and dance fans.
