Swans’ drummer Thor Harris has formed a new band called Thor & Friends.

The ensemble – which features a rotating line-up of Austin-based musicians, including core members Peggy Ghorbani and Sarah “Goat” Gautier – will release their as-yet-untitled debut in the autumn.

No further details on the album have been shared yet, but it was recorded in Albuquerque with A Hawk & A Hacksaw’s Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost, as well as Deerhoof’s John Dieterich.

Meanwhile, Swans have shared a clip of new song ‘When Will I Return?’, taken from their “final” album The Glowing Man, which is due for release on June 17.

The Glowing Man rounds off a period that began with the band’s revival in 2009 and has seen the release of four albums, including 2012’s The Seer.

“Whatever the force is that has led us through this extended excursion, it’s been worthwhile for many of us, and I’m grateful for what has been the most consistently challenging and fulfilling period of my musical life,” said frontman Michael Gira.
