Workshop Records releases lost ‘90s techno album by Ibrahim Alfa
The LP was originally intended for release on Move D’s Source Records in the ’90s.
The record is the first full release from Alfa since the early 2000s, having put out several records between 1997 and 2003 on Cristian Vogel’s Mosquito label and his own Automatic Records before vanishing from the scene.
As XLR8R reports, the material on Hidden by the Leaves was originally intended for release on David Moufang aka Move D’s Source Records in the ‘90s, but was abandoned due to bankruptcy problems.
The record was recently rescued by Moufang, who found it in his studio and gave it to Workshop co-owner Lowtec for release. According to Berlin’s Hard Wax store, the record is a “free-styling take on outsider techno and electro.”
Hidden by the Leaves is the first full release from Alfa since 2003, but he recently contributed a track to a various artists 12″ on a label called Spin Dynamics under the Infinite Black alias. He also runs a label called Oyabun Audio.
Workshop has been running since 2006, but Alfa’s Hidden by the Leaves is only the label’s third LP-length release, and the first since Kassem Mosse’s debut album from 2014.
